Bracken, Brendan, 1901-1958

Bracken was a British politician who was very close to CHURCHILL. In 1940-41 he served as Churchill’s parliamentary private secretary and was appointed Minister of Information in July 1941, a position he held until the end of the war. He was witty and vivid and did his job efficiently. In May 1945 he became First Lord of the Admiralty and was one of the prominent Conservative Party members to lose his seat in the 1945 election.
